History
Elizabeth II was born on April 21st, 1926 to George and Elizabeth, Duke and Duchess of York. Following her fathers unexpected accession to the throne, Elizabeth quietly braced herself for her inevitable future as Queen of England. George IV passed away on February 6th, 1952, and immediately thereafter Elizabeth became Queen. Her official coronation took place on June 2nd, 1953 in Westminster Abbey. It was the first coronation to be televised.
