The British Britannia bullion coin series debuted in 1987 and originally offered only gold bullion coins. More than three decades later, the series expanded to include its first-ever platinum bullion coins. In 2018, the Royal Mint introduced 1 oz and 1/10 oz platinum options in the series, bringing a third set of coins for investors. Obverse
On the obverse side of 2022 British Britannia Platinum Coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown. This portrait was created in 2015 by Jody Clark and is the fifth-generation design to grace British coins during her reign. The inscriptions on this side of the coin read 100 POUNDS, ELIZABETH II, and D.G. REG F.D.
Reverse
The reverse field of the 2022 British Britannia 1 oz Platinum Coins comes with an image of Britannia. This design shows a powerful female figure draped in a gown with a Corinthian helmet on her head. Her right hand clutches a trident while her left hand holds an olive branch while resting on a shield. The flag of the United Kingdom features on the shield. Inscriptions on this face include BRITANNIA, 2022, 1 OZ, and 999.5 PLATINUM.
History
The British Britannia platinum series comes with 1 oz and 1/10 oz platinum coins. Added in 2018, these coins came along two decades after the 1997 release of silver coins and three decades after the 1987 debut of the series with gold bullion coins.

These 2022 British Britannia 1 oz Platinum Coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are packaged individually in plastic flips, by multiples of 5 to 10 coins in protective tubes, and by multiples of 100 platinum coins in boxes.
