The British Britannia Series was introduced in 1987 by the Royal Mint, with silver bullion coins introduced in 1997. The collection is well known for its pristine depictions of Queen Elizabeth II and Britannia, but errors can occur from time to time that creates a unique sense of collectability. Provident Metals currently has 2022 British Britannia 1 oz Silver Coins with struck-through errors available in certified condition for purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase one of these 2022 British Britannia 1 oz Silver Coins online from Provident Metals, you will receive a certified coin with an MS64 or better grade. Coins in this condition showcase the original luster and a normal strike for the date and mint. Three or four small contact marks are possible, with one noticeable mark also present that is not a major detraction.
Obverse
The obverse side of the 2022 British Britannia Silver Coin comes with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majestys effigy showcases struck-through errors that include obstructions in the design strike around her mouth. Inscriptions include D.G. REG F.D., 2 POUNDS, and ELIZABETH II.
Reverse
On the reverse face of 2022 Britannia 1 oz Silver Coins, you will find a depiction of Britannia. This design comes from Philip Nathan and shows Britannias full-length figure. The image shows Britannia wearing a Corinthian helmet, clutching a trident, and resting her hand on a Union Jack shield. Inscriptions read BRITANNIA, 2022, 1 OZ, and 999 FINE SILVER.
History
Struck-through errors occur when there is an obstruction or debris present between the coin blank and the die used in production. The result is a design strike that is not completely and cleanly struck onto the coin blank.
