The Trade Dollar series from East India Company is a new collection of coins featuring recreations of original trade dollars used around the globe. Based off the weight and fineness of the Spanish silver dollar, these coins helped to facilitate trade with China and other Eastern regions. The series, which launched in 2021, is now in its second release. Provident Metals currently has 2022 British Trade Dollar 1 oz Silver Coins to purchase online.
When you purchase 2022 British Trade Dollar 1 oz Coins in this online Provident Metals listing, you will receive a coin housed inside an individual plastic flip. Each coin has been produced by the East India Company on behalf of the Issuing Authority St. Helena and will arrive in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
The obverse of 2022 British Trade Dollar Silver Coins features an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This design is credited to Jody Clark, who in 2015 at age 33 became the youngest engraver to have a portrait of the Queen accepted for coinage. Along the rim, youll find inscriptions reading QUEEN ELIZABETH II, ST. HELENA, ONE POUND, 2022.
On the reverse field of the 2022 Trade Dollar 1 oz Silver Coin is a depiction of Britannia, the female personification of Britain. She is shown with a helmet and visor on which is printed the flag of the United Kingdom. Britannias trident is shown to her left, while on the other side we see a globe along with the map of the United Kingdom decorated with the Union Jack flag. Inscriptions include TRADE DOLLAR and EIC, which are the initials for the East India Company.
The Trade Dollar series is produced by the East India Company under the monetary authority of St. Helena. The series began in 2021 as a follow-up to the previous Trade Dollar series that found popularity among many collectors. This new series launched with the Chinese Trade Dollar, while its second release in 2022 features the British Trade Dollar. The coins in this collection are inspired by the original Trade Dollar designs but are not direct replications of them.
