History
On July 8th, 1947, there was a press release by the Roswell Army Air Field claiming they had recovered a flying disc from a ranch near Corona, New Mexico. However, very quickly they withdrew this statement and instead declared the recovered object was a weather balloon. These events formed the basis for countless Roswell Incident conspiracy theories about UFOs, government secrets, and cover-ups.
