Obverse

Reverse

History
When the Kennedy Half Dollar was first released in 1964, many Americans hoarded the coins as mementos for their fallen leader. Pre-1965 dated Kennedy halves also had a 90% silver content and remain in demand to this day. From 1965 to 1971, Kennedy Halves were struck with 40% silver. Following 1971, they were produced with the standard cupro-nickel alloy. Between 2002 and 2021, Kennedy Half Dollars were produced in limited quantity at a higher premium to satisfy collectors. However, in 2021, the US Mint began producing these coins for general circulation once again.
