Reverse

Will Riker, sporting his signature beard and the red uniform of Starfleet’s command division, appears as a brightly colorized sculpture on the coin’s reverse. The “big head” caricature style showcases his characteristic blend of determination and warm affability.

History

Commander William Riker has been a presence in the Trek franchise since he first appeared inStar Trek: The Next Generation,going on to appear in multiple Star Trek novels, shows, and movies even as his actor Jonathan Frakes has continued to help shape the Star Trek legacy from behind the camera. Riker was a great example of the evolution of characters that has marked new eras of Star Trek: developing from a brash hothead in the early seasons of the show into a canny, wily but ultimately warm presence as time went on, a man loyal to his friends and to the cause of Starfleet above all.
