King Charles III makes his coin debut on the obverse of 2022 Royal Mint Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 10 oz Silver Coins. This portrait was created by Martin Jennings before receiving approval from the King himself. In addition to the portrait, there are also inscriptions that read CHARLES III, D G REX F D 10 POUNDS, 2022.
Reverse
John Bergdahls farewell portrait of Queen Elizabeth II can be found on the reverse of 2022 Proof Royal Mint Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 10 oz Silver Coins. In this poignant design, we see the Queen in right-profile relief looking peaceful and dignified. Laurels decorated with the English rose surrounding the effigy, and along the edge, there are inscriptions reading ELIZABETH REGINA, 1926-2022.
History
Elizabeth II was born to George and Elizabeth, Queen Mother in 1926. In 1947, she married Prince Phillip, whose side she would remain by until his death in 1921. In 1952, Elizabeth became the new British monarch after the death of her father, and the following year she was crowned in historys first televised coronation. Elizabeth would go on to lead for a record 70 years before her death in 2022. She is considered not just one of Britains finest monarchs, but one of the great leaders of world history.
