Obverse
A Native American bridge is shown on the obverse of 2022 Proof Native America the Beautiful Oklahoma Silver Coins. This bridge is located on Chickasaw land and is surrounded by beautiful forests. There is also a quiet stream underneath it. The obverse also contains inscriptions that read CHICKASAW, OKLAHOMA, 2023, CHIKASHSHA. Chikashsha is simply the English version of the word Chickasaw.
Reverse
The official series emblem is found on the reverse of 2022 Proof Native America the Beautiful Oklahoma 1 oz Coins. Featured on all coins in the series, this design contains a bald eagle in closeup as well as an ornate Native American star arrangement. Also, between each point of the star, you will find an arrowhead design. Across the outer rim of the field, there are inscriptions reading NATIVE AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL, 1 OUNCE, ONE DOLLAR, .999 AG.
History
The Chickasaw were once considered one of the Five Civilized Tribes, along with the Cherokee, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole. These tribes were ultimately forced to leave their homeland by the US government between 1830 and 1850 in what is known as the Trail of Tears. The Chickasaw would wind up in Oklahoma, where they are considered the 13th largest federally recognized tribe in the country.
