Obverse

Reverse
A combination of high-relief engraving and holographic foil techniques recreate the Aurora Australis on the coin’s reverse. History
Polar auroras have long been known to occur in both the Earth’s Northern and Southern Hemispheres, but it’s usually the northern version — the Aurora Borealis or the Northern Lights — that takes the lion’s share of the attention. Less well known but just as spectacular, the Aurora Australis can be spied from the right vantage points during the winter months of March to September.
