In 1590, an epic poem full of heroes, heroines, and fearsome beasts was introduced to the world. Its influence on fantasy books, movies, and TV shows cannot be overstated. Known as The Faerie Queene, this 36,000-line poem was published in two parts and quickly became one of the most popular pieces of entertainment of its day. Now, a new coin series is available as a tribute to this legendary story. Right now, you can buy 2022 Proof St. Helena Faerie Queene 1 oz Silver Coin online at Provident Metals.
All 2022 Proof St. Helena Faerie Queene Silver Coins include presentation boxes as well as a Certificate of Authenticity from the mint. The design on this coin is a spectacular work of art, and the proof finish makes it the perfect specimen to display in your home or office.
On the obverse of 2022 Faerie Queene 1 oz Silver Coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief in a 2015 design by artist Jody Clark. In this image, Her Majesty, 89 years old at the time, is shown wearing Royal Diamond Diadem crown. Youll find on the border the inscriptions ELIZABETH II, D.G REGINA F.D, ST. HELENA, 2 POUNDS.
The reverse field of 2022 Proof St. Helena Faerie Queene Silver Coins features Una as she implores the Redcrosse Knight to rescue her parents from a dangerous dragon. She is shown standing while the knight is seen on horseback decked out in full armor. Off in the distance, we can see the castle under siege by the dragon who is depicted flying above it. The words THE FAERIE QUEENE are inscribed along the edges.
Edmund Spenser, the author of the Faerie Queene, was born in 1552 in London. Spenser was later educated at Cambridge, where he studied many of the classic Greek and Italian myths that would influence his work. In 1590 he published the first half of his most well-known piece, the epic poem The Faerie Queene. The second half was released six years later. A moral allegory, each of the six books focused on a different knight who become exemplars of specific virtues such as temperance and justice.
