Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse side of 2022 Proof Goddesses Series Her Silver Coins. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown. This portrait of the Queen is the fifth from the Royal Mint during her reign and was designed in 2015 by Jody Clark. The inscriptions on this side read ELIZABETH II, D.G. REG F.D., ST. HELENA, 2022, and 5 POUNDS.
Reverse
In the reverse design of the 2022 Proof St. Helena Goddesses Series Hera 5 oz Silver Coin, you will find a depiction of Hera. The wife of Zeus and Queen of the Gods, Hera is shown here riding through the sky in a chariot driven by her faithful peacocks. The tail feathers of the peacocks are covered in the ever-watchful eyes of Argus. Inscriptions include HERA and the East India Company mint mark.
History
Hera is known in Greek mythology for her beauty and faithfulness. However, that faithfulness is constantly tested by Zeus, who has many affairs with mortal women. Because of this, Hera is also known for her fury, rage, and vengeance as she often seeks to punish the illegitimate children of Zeus for bringing shame on her family.
