Reverse

Una and the Lion are featured together in the reverse field of 2022 Proof St. Helena Una and the Lion 1 oz Gold Coins. This years depiction shows the pair seated next to one another as they gaze at each other. Una is set on the left and sits on a rock in right-profile relief as she looks at the noble lion. On the right, the lion is seated in left-profile relief looking up at Una as he raises his right paw ever so slightly off the ground. The field includes inscriptions of UNA AND THE LION and 2022.

History

In 1839, William Wyon created the famous Una and the Lion design for the Royal Mint. Used on a 5 pound gold coin, the design was issued in honor of the first anniversary of Queen Victorias coronation ceremony in 1838.
