The shield is supported by heraldic leopards on each side and there are fern leaves with spears crossing beneath the design. Reverse

This depiction shows an adult bush elephant walking along the savanna with its young calf by its side. Both figures are in left-profile relief. History

The Bavarian State Mint introduced the Somalia Elephant Series in 1999 as the Zambia Elephant Series. The coins were issued in silver and gold from 1999 to 2003. In 2004, the series was transferred to Somalia as the nation of issue.
