Obverse

On the obverse of 2022 Somalia Elephant First Struck 7-Coin Silver Collection specimens is the coat of arms of Somalia. The national seal consists of a crowned shield that is supported on either side by heraldic leopards. The shield offers a background of horizontal lines with a single star at the center of the design. The inscriptions on this side include SOMALI REPUBLIC, 2022, and the individual face value of each specimen. There is also a beaded border on this side.

Reverse

The reverse side of the 2022 Somalia Elephant Silver Coins in this First Struck 7-Coin Silver Collection features the new exclusive 2022 design. Here, an adult bush elephant walks along the savanna in left-profile relief with its young calf marching right alongside. A small flock of birds flies overhead as trees dot the horizon in the distance. The inscriptions on this side include AFRICAN WILDLIFE, ELEPHANT, AG 9999, and the individual weight of each individual coin.

History

In 2016, the Bavarian State Mint increased the purity of the silver in the coins in this series from .999 fineness to .9999 fineness. In 2017, the silver series saw several weights added alongside the 1 oz and 1 kilo options. All of those new weights feature in this set along with the 1 oz silver coin.
