The obverse side of 2022 St. Helena Queens Virtues Truth Platinum Coins comes with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This portrait of the Queen was designed in 1985 by Raphael Maklouf and, though criticized at the time for not reflecting the Queens age accurately, it has come to be regarded as a timeless effigy of Her Majesty. The inscriptions on this side read 10, ST. HELENA, QUEEN ELIZABETH II, 2022, and 1/10 OUNCE 999.5 PLATINUM.
Reverse
On the reverse field of the 2022 Queens Virtues Truth 1/10 oz Platinum Coin is a bust of Truth. This female allegory is shown in left-profile relief with a mirror in her right hand and her left hand around the frame of a small child. This young child is clutching a palm branch. The inscription on this side includes TRUTH CONQUERS ALL.
History
The Queens Virtues Series is based on the six allegorical figures found on the Victoria Memorial, a monument built in honor of the Queen following her 1901 passing. With Queen Elizabeth IIs recent passing in September 2022, these coins mark one of the last programs to feature an effigy of Englands longest-reigning monarch.
