Obverse
The obverse of the 2022 St. Helena Una and the Lion Silver Coin comes with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The great-great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth II is featured here in the fifth-generation effigy to be displayed on British coins. In this design from Jody Clark, the Queen is aged 89 years and wears the George IV State Diadem Crown. Inscriptions on this side include ELIZABETH II, D.G. REGINA F.D., ST. HELENA, and 2 POUNDS.
Reverse
On the reverse side of 2022 Una and the Lion 2 oz Silver Coins, you will find the images of the titular characters. This years depiction of Una and her faithful guardian depicts Una in right-profile relief seated across the Lion, which sits in left-profile relief. The two are gazing at one another with the sun silhouetting the figure of Una.
History
The original Una and the Lion design was created in 1839 by William Wyon. It was issued on a 5 Pound gold coin in Britain to mark the start of Queen Victorias reign in 1837.
