History

Street Fighter was introduced in 1987. The game was inspired by the 1984 release of Kung-Fu Masters, a game that was also developed by Street Fighters director, Takashi Nishiyama. The game allowed players to fight through stages individually and take on bosses, or compete in player-vs.-player combat in single-player matches.
