The Burnished American Silver Eagle, also called the Uncirculated collector edition, is known for its soft, satin-like surface. This finish gives it a different appearance than both the standard bullion coin and the mirrored Proof version. Produced at the West Point Mint and marked with a W, these coins are struck on specially prepared planchets and released in limited quantities. Their focused production and distinct look make them a strong choice for collectors who want more than a traditional bullion strike. Right now, 2022-W Burnished American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins in certified condition are available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 2022-W Burnished American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin offered here is graded SP70 by the Professional Coin Grading Service. This designation indicates a coin with no visible imperfections and full original mint luster. The Advanced Release label confirms that these coins were obtained prior to their general public release date.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2022-W Burnished American Eagle Silver Coin features the classic Walking Liberty design created by Adolph A. Weinman. First seen in 1916 on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, the image shows Liberty walking toward the rising sun, draped in the American flag and holding branches of oak and laurel. The design remains one of the most recognized images in American coinage. The inscriptions include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 2022.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2022-W Burnished Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin showcases the newer eagle design introduced in 2021. Designed by Emily Damstra, it depicts a bald eagle in flight viewed from below, carrying an oak branch. The updated artwork offers a natural representation of the national bird and adds a modern touch to the series. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, and 1 OZ. FINE SILVER.
History
The United States Mint introduced the Burnished Silver Eagle in 2006 to expand the options available to collectors of the series. While bullion coins are struck for investors and Proof coins offer a high-shine finish, the burnished version provides a more subtle appearance. Its lower mintage figures and collector-focused distribution help set it apart within the long-running Silver Eagle program.
