Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins were first released in 1988. These coins, along with the 1/10 oz gold coins, were the last to debut in the Proof American Eagle Gold Series following the 1986 debut of the 1 oz coin and the 1987 debut of the 1/2 oz coin.
