The largest coin in the Proof American Eagle Gold Coin Series is the 1 oz gold coin. The first of the four weights to feature in the series, it is the only one of the four to ever be released on its own without the other accompanying fractional-ounce coins. Today, you have the opportunity to get 2022-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins online from Provident Metals in near-perfect condition.
Highlights:
Proof American Eagle Gold Coins were launched in 1986. That year featured only the 1 oz gold version of the coin. In 1987, the 1/2 oz gold coin was introduced and made available alongside the 1 oz coin. In 1988, the series was finally complete with the addition of the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz gold coins.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2022 Proof American Eagle Gold Coins, you will find Lady Liberty. Set in front-facing relief, this 1907 design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens graced the $20 Double Eagle Gold Coin from 1907 to 1933. Inscriptions on this side include only LIBERTY, 2022, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2022 Proof American Eagle Gold Coin comes with a new interpretation of the bald eagle. Introduced in mid-2021, this new design from Jennie Norris shows only the head of the eagle with great levels of detail. The eagles head is in left-profile relief as it gazes into the distance. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 1 OZ. FINE GOLD, and 50 DOLLARS.
History
Jennie Norris redesigned the reverse of the American Eagle Gold Coin in 2021. Her design was chosen from a field of more than 30 options to grace the American Eagle Gold Series and it marks her first major contribution to the United States Mint.
Ordering
These 2022 Proof American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins are near-perfect specimens. PR69 coins have full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor flaws. These detractions are limited to minuscule contact marks or hairlines only.
