When the United States Mint introduced the American Eagle Gold Coins in 1986, five options were available. These options included four weights in the BU Series and just one weight in the collectible Proof Series.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2023 Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins, you will find Lady Liberty. This 1907 design was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and shows the full-length figure of Liberty in front-facing relief. Inscriptions include LIBERTY and 2023.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2023 American Eagle Gold Coin comes with a depiction of the American bald eagle. Appearing for just the third time, this design was created in 2020 by Jennie Norris and debuted in mid-2021. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 10 DOLLARS 1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD.
History
American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins have been issued at various times in all three versions of the coin. Each release since 1986 has featured a BU 1/4 oz Gold Eagle. The Proof 1/4 oz Gold Eagle missed only the 2009 issue. The Burnished 1/4 oz Gold Eagle was available only from 2006 to 2008.

These 2023 American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins are perfect specimens with a PCGS Mint State 70 grade. This grade means the coins have full, original mint luster and present with no detracting flaws of any kind. First Strike coins are those received within 30 days of the US Mints release.
