History

St. Patricks Day is an annual holiday celebrated around the world on March 17^th. The day marks the death of St. Patrick, a missionary from the 5^th century known as the Apostle of Ireland. Traditionally, the day occurred during Lent, when Irish Catholics abstained from meat consumption. However, for this particular occasion, meat was permitted and people would gather for a day of feasting, dancing, and merriment.
