Obverse

On the obverse of the 2023 Australian Koala Platinum Coin, you’ll find the memorial bust of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This design, created in 2015 by Jody Clark for the Royal Mint, portrays the Queen at the age of 89 and features the George IV State Diadem. This bust marks the sixth and final effigy of the Queen to grace Australian coins. Inscriptions on this side include ELIZABETH II, 1952-2022, AUSTRALIA, and 100 DOLLARS.

Reverse

The reverse design field of the 2023 Koala 1 oz Platinum Coins includes Michael Tracey’s 1988 depiction of the koala, which was used on the first-ever Platinum Koala coin. In this design, the koala is captured in front-facing relief as it is seated on all four legs. This side of the coin also includes the unique P35 mint mark, which pays tribute to the 35th anniversary of the series. The inscriptions read THE AUSTRALIAN KOALA, 1 OZ 9995 PLATINUM, P35, and 2023.
