The Australian Kookaburra Series dates to 1990 when it was introduced as a silver bullion collection. Since then, it has grown to feature weights beyond 1 oz silver, as well as options in both gold and platinum. Today, you have the opportunity to get 2023 Australian Kookaburra 1/10 oz Gold coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
2023 marks the final time that the coins in the Australian Kookaburra Series will feature an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majestys passing in September 2022 means that coinage throughout the Commonwealth will eventually transition to designs with images of King Charles III. With designs not finalized throughout the Commonwealth yet, many 2023 collections debut with a final opportunity to own coins with Her Majestys effigy.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2023 Kookaburra 1/10 oz Gold Coin, you will find a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This effigy depicts the monarch at the age of 89 with the George IV State Diadem on her head. The inscriptions on this side include ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, and 15 DOLLARS.
Reverse
The reverse side of 2023 Australian Kookaburra Gold Coins comes with a depiction of two kookaburras. This design shows the two birds perched within the branches of a waratah plant opposite one another on the field. Inscriptions include 2023, 1/10 OZ 9999 GOLD, KOOKABURRA, and the P mint mark of Perth Mint.
History
The Australian Kookaburra Series started in 1990 with only a 1 oz silver coin available. In the decades since, weights such as 10 oz silver, 1 Kilo silver, 1/10 oz platinum, and 1/10 oz gold have all been added to the series.
