Obverse
The obverse side of the 2023 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin comes with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt as the fourth-generation effigy of the Queen, this right-profile design is the last to feature in the Canadian Maple Leaf Series following the Queens passing in September 2022. Inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, 1 DOLLAR, and 2023.
Reverse

History
The Royal Canadian Mint starts its 2023 Canadian Maple Leaf Series with one final issue of coins bearing Queen Elizabeth IIs effigy. In the months to come, the Royal Canadian Mint will issue new 2023 coins with the first-ever portrait of King Charles III.
