With Canada emerging as a nation throughout the 20th century, control over the Royal Canadian Mint transferred to the hands of the Canadian Government. As a crown corporation, they are owned solely by the Government of Canada. Even with the Canadian government taking control though, the Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Series still produces a new coin every year and remains one of the more popular gold bullion coin series in the world today.
