History

The Kennedy Half Dollar was introduced in 1964 as a memorial to the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in November 1963. It was released just a few months after his death, on March 24, 1964. The coin features a portrait of President Kennedy on the obverse side, designed by sculptor Gilroy Roberts.
