History
The Royal Australian Mint is the sole producer of Australias circulating currency. Following the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act, Australia was on the road to having its own official coinage. The mint officially opened in 1965 and was the first of its kind in Australia to be independent of the Royal Mint in London. To date, it has produced over 15 billion coins in circulation.
