History
At over 36,000 lines, the Faerie Queene is one of the longer poems written in English. An epic narrative work, the story is divided into six parts and recounts the adventures of several knights. Allegorical in nature, the poem is most famous for its account of Una and the Lion, who journey to find the Redcrosse Knight after Unas parents are captured by a vicious dragon. Together, Una and her lion symbolize beauty, integrity, honor, and strength for the people of Great Britain.
