History

The African Wildlife Series began in 2004 with the Somalia Elephant design. Prior to this, the Bavarian State Mint had produced these elephant coins for Zambia from 1999 to 2003. In 2018, the mint released its first African Leopard design, which has quickly become another fan-favorite in the series. Like the Somalia Elephant, the Leopard coins feature a brand-new design each year, with both gold and silver available.
