Obverse
A portrait of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse of 2023 St. Helena Faerie Queene Una and Redcrosse Silver Coins. Jody Clark designed this effigy at just 33 years old, making him the youngest engraver to have a portrait of the Queen accepted for coinage. You will find inscriptions as well on the obverse that read ELIZABETH II, D G REG F D, ST HELENA, 2023, 1 POUND.
Reverse
Una and the Redcrosse Knight are found on the reverse side of 2023 St. Helena Faerie Queene Una and Redcrosse 1 oz Silver Coins. Designer Joel Iskowitz depicts Una on the left side as she beseeches Redcrosse, who sits upon a horse in a suit of armor. Adding to the drama and excitement is a dragon flying ominously in the distance. The words THE FAERIE QUEENE are also inscribed along the reverse edge.
History
This coin marks the first silver Brilliant Uncirculated release in the Faerie Queene Series. Previously, East India Company released several other versions of this coin. They included three different silver proof editions and two gold proof coins. There was also a 2 oz silver proof release with gold plating. East India Company has a history dating back to 1600 and is currently headquartered in London.
