Obverse
The obverse side of 2023 St. Helena Lucky Angel Silver Coins comes with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Designed in 1985 by Raphael Maklouf, this effigy shows the Queen in right-profile relief with the George IV State Diadem Crown. Inscriptions include ST. HELENA, QUEEN ELIZABETH II, 2023, ONE OUNCE 999 SILVER, and the 1 Pound face value.
Reverse
On the reverse face of 2023 Lucky Angel 1 oz Silver Coins is a modern twist on the Angel design concept. The original 1792 design from Augustine Dupre featured an angel on a pedestal, while this modern vision shows an angel in front-facing relief walking atop the globe with a wreath in her right hand. Inscriptions include the word ANGEL at the top.
History
The 1792 design from Dupre became known as the Lucky Angel after Dupre escaped the guillotine during the French Revolution by bribing his guards with an angel coin. It didnt take long for that aura to spread, with navy captains refusing to leave French ports without the coins, Napoleon Bonaparte reportedly carrying one with him at all times, except during the Battle of Waterloo, and even fighter pilots in Vietnam and Iraq flying with a lucky angel in the cockpit.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies.
