The Britannia Series from the Royal Mint is one of the most admired coin programs in the world. Launched in 1987 as a gold bullion series, it has expanded over time to include platinum and silver coins, giving collectors and investors a broader selection. The 2024 British Britannia 1/10 oz Platinum Coins are now available for purchase at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The 2024 British Britannia 1/10 oz Platinum Coins are offered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. You can buy them individually in flips, in tubes holding 25 coins, or in mint-sealed Monster Boxes containing 500 coins. Each Monster Box is composed of 20 tubes, ensuring the protection of your investment.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2024 British Britannia Platinum Coin is a left-profile bust of King Charles III, designed by Martin Jennings. This is the first-ever portrait of King Charles on Royal Mint coins, and it features the King without a crown, marking a historic change in the series. The design is significant for its opposing orientation to the portrait of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. Inscriptions here include CHARLES III, D.G. REX. F.D., and 10 POUNDS.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2024 Britannia 1/10 oz Platinum Coin shows the classic design of Britannia, created by Philip Nathan in 1987. Britannia stands strong, holding a trident in one hand, an olive branch in the other, and a shield at her side. This design has been a staple of the Britannia Series since its inception and continues to represent the strength, power, and tradition of Britain. The inscriptions include BRITANNIA, 2024, 1/10 OZ, and 999.5 PLATINUM.
History
The Britannia design first appeared on Roman coins during the reign of Emperor Hadrian, where Britannia was depicted as a goddess. Over time, she evolved to become a symbol of Britains strength and resilience, often shown with a trident, a shield, and wearing a Corinthian helmet. These elements represent British naval power and national unity.
