The Tudor Dragon, famously known as the Red Dragon of Wales (Y Ddraig Goch), is a symbol deeply rooted in Welsh mythology and history. Adopted by the Tudor dynasty, it signified their Welsh origins and claim to the English throne. The Royal Mints Tudor Beasts Series now highlights the Tudor Dragon in its sixth release. Currently, the 2024 British Tudor Beasts The Tudor Dragon 2 oz Silver Coins are available at Provident Metals.

The 2024 British Tudor Beasts The Tudor Dragon 2 oz Silver Coins come to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Available individually in plastic flips, in protective tubes of 10 coins, or in boxes of 200 coins (20 tubes of 10 coins).
Obverse
King Charles III graces the obverse of the 2024 British Tudor Beasts The Tudor Dragon Silver Coins. This left-profile portrait, created by Martin Jennings, was first seen in this series in mid-2023. Charles III is depicted without a crown, in contrast to the crowned portraits of his predecessors. Inscriptions on this side include CHARLES III, D.G. REX. F.D., and 5 POUNDS.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2024 Tudor Beasts The Tudor Dragon 2 oz Silver Coin features the Tudor Dragon, designed by David Lawrence. This design presents the historic Red Dragon of Wales from the Tudor Era, depicted with a shield displaying the Beaufort Portcullis badge. The inscriptions here include TUDOR DRAGON, 2 OZ, FINE SILVER, 9999, and 2024.
History
The Tudor Dragon was incorporated into the Royal Arms by the Tudor Dynasty, which originated in Wales. When Henry Tudor (later Henry VII) returned from exile to claim the English throne, he landed in Wales and gathered significant Welsh support. Many Welsh gentry and common people rallied to his cause, seeing him as one of their own.
