Right now, 2024 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coins are available from Provident Metals.

Obverse

On the obverse of the 2024 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin, youll find the first portrait of King Charles III to appear on Canadian coins. Designed by Canadian artist Steven Rosati, the left-profile bust depicts His Majesty without a crown and was introduced on Royal Canadian Mint coins in 2024. The inscriptions read CHARLES III, 50 DOLLARS, and 2024.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2024 Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coin features the sugar maple leaf, a timeless emblem of Canadas natural heritage. This intricate design was first created in 1979 by Walter Ott and has been the defining feature of the Gold Maple Leaf Series ever since. Inscriptions here read CANADA, 9999, FINE GOLD, and 1 OZ OR PUR.

History

For decades, Canadian Gold Maple Leafs featured the image of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. Canada used four different portraits of Her Majesty during her reign, which appeared on the series from its debut in 1979 through 2023. Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles IIIs coronation in May 2023, the Gold Maple Leaf debuted a new obverse design for the 2024 release.
