History
The Ancestral Puebloans used sandstone, wooden beams, and mortar made from local materials to construct the cliff dwellings. The sandstone blocks were shaped and arranged to create walls, and timbers were used for roofs and support beams. Many of the structures exhibit advanced architectural features, including T-shaped doors, which may have had ceremonial or symbolic significance.
