Obverse
On the obverse of the 2024 EC8 Grenada Shark Diver Silver Coin, youll see the logo of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank. The center of the design features the initials ECCB in a stylized font, framed by laurel branches. Other details, including the coins purity, weight, and face value, also appear on this side. The inscriptions here read EASTERN CARIBBEAN CENTRAL BANK, 1 OZ .999 SILVER, and TWO DOLLARS.
Reverse
The reverse of 2024 EC8 Shark Diver 1 oz Silver Coins presents the underwater scene of a lone diver surrounded by swimming sharks. This design reflects Grenadas marine environment, where several shark species, including the Caribbean reef shark, live among the coral reefs. These sharks, which can grow as long as eight feet, contribute to the health of the reef by keeping fish populations in check. Inscriptions here read GRENADA and 2024.
History
Grenada has earned a reputation for world-class diving, especially wreck diving. The island is home to the famous Bianca C shipwreck, a 600-foot Italian liner that sank in 1961. Resting more than 100 feet underwater, it has become one of the top dive sites in the Caribbean and attracts divers from all over the globe.
