These 2024 EC8 St. Lucia Flamingo 1 oz Gold Coins come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Each coin is packaged in a CertiLock card that provides both protection and authentication. All versions of the 2024 Flamingo design share the same artwork, though some editions, such as proofs and colorized coins, may differ in finish.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2024 EC8 St. Lucia Flamingo Gold Coin displays the logo of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank. It includes the letters ECCB placed between large laurel branches. The ECCB is the central monetary authority for eight countries within the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union. It was founded in 1983 and is based in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis. The Eastern Caribbean dollar it manages has kept a fixed rate of EC$2.70 to US$1 since 1976. Inscriptions read EASTERN CARIBBEAN CENTRAL BANK, 1 OZ .9999 GOLD, and TEN DOLLARS.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2024 EC8 Flamingo 1 oz Gold Coin shows two flamingos standing face to face with their long necks curving upward. These are Caribbean flamingos (Phoenicopterus ruber), known for their brilliant pink feathers and curved bills. Their coloring comes from a diet that includes brine shrimp and algae. These birds can grow up to five feet tall and are often seen in the warm, shallow waters around the Caribbean. Inscriptions include ST LUCIA and 2024.
