Launched in 1981, the Mexican Gold Libertad coin series became an annual release from the Mexican Mint starting in 2002. Initially, the series included 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/4 oz coins, with 1/10 oz and 1/20 oz coins added in 1991. The 1/20 oz coin is the smallest denomination in this series. All 2024 Mexican Libertad 1/10 oz Gold Coins available here are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and come packaged in a plastic flip for protection. Since their introduction in 1991, the 1/20 oz Gold Libertad coins have experienced varying levels of demand, with the highest mintage at 65,225 coins in 1992 and the lowest at 650 coins in 2013. Notably, fractional-ounce coins were not produced in 2012.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2024 Mexican Libertad Gold Coin features the national coat of arms of Mexico. This modern seal is inspired by the Codex Mendoza from 1524, showing an eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus, eating a snakea symbol rooted in Aztec heritage. Inscriptions read ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2024 Libertad 1/10 oz Gold Coin displays the statue of Winged Victory. This iconic figure symbolizes Mexican Independence and is shown standing atop the Mexican Independence Victory Column in Mexico City, with the volcanic peaks of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl in the distance. The inscriptions read 1/20 ONZA, ORO PURO, 2024 LEY .999, and the mint mark.
History
The Gold Libertad coins were first issued in 1981, featuring designs initially used on the 50 Peso Gold Centenario coin released in 1921 to mark 100 years of Mexican independence from Spain. The designs were updated in 2000 to reflect modern versions of the national seal and Winged Victory.

All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
