In 2021, the United States Mint reintroduced the cherished Morgan Silver Dollar as a commemorative coin. Originally struck from 90% silver in 1878, the final Morgan Dollar was minted in 1921. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of that final year, the US Mint unveiled the 99.9% pure silver Morgan Silver Dollar in 2021. Today, 2024 Morgan Dollar Silver Coins in certified condition are available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
All 2024 Morgan Dollar Silver Coins available here are in near-perfect condition. Mint State 69 coins have full, original mint luster and up to two minor imperfections. These flaws are limited to tiny contact marks or hairlines that are located outside the main focal points. Early Release coins are those that were received for grading within 30 days of release from the mint.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2024 Morgan Dollar Coin is a depiction of Liberty. This left-profile bust was created in 1878 by George T. Morgan. It depicts Liberty wearing a coronet crown, a laurel wreath, and a Phrygian cap. The inscriptions read E PLURIBUS UNUM, LIBERTY, and 2024.
Reverse
The reverse side of 2024 Morgan Dollar Silver Coins features the heraldic eagle. Also designed in 1878 by George T. Morgan, this image includes a front-facing eagle holding arrows of war and an olive branch of peace in its talons. Inscriptions here read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and ONE DOLLAR.
History
The Morgan Silver Dollars were reissued in 2021 by the United States Mint along with the Peace Silver Dollar. Both coins are composed of .999 pure silver. The 2021 reintroduction of these popular designs marks the centennial of 1921. That year saw the revival of silver dollar minting, which had been halted since 1904. In 1921, the US Mint produced the last Morgan Silver Dollars and the first Peace Silver Dollars, with the latter replacing the former in December 1921.
