The Una and the Lion Series draws inspiration from Edmund Spencers legendary poem, The Faerie Queene. The lion’s unwavering loyalty to Una in Spencers epic poem echoes the bond depicted on these coins. This series not only commemorates the story, but also the 1839 coin which also depicted this duo. This coin was released to commemorate the reign of Queen Victoria. Its regarded as one of the most beautiful British coins to be struck.
