In 2018, the Mexican Mint unveiled the Reverse Proof Mexican Gold Libertad, providing collectors with a distinct version of the cherished Gold Libertad coin. These coins are produced in limited quantities and offered in only two weights annually, unlike the traditional proofs which are available in five weights. Every 2024 Reverse Proof Mexican Libertad 1 oz Gold Coin comes in a protective plastic capsule. These coins feature a reverse proof finish, characterized by mirrored design elements against frosted background fields. This finish provides a unique visual contrast to traditional proof coins, which have frosted designs on mirrored backgrounds.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2024 Reverse Proof Mexican Libertad Gold Coin displays the modern coat of arms of Mexico, surrounded by 10 historic versions of the seal. The central emblem shows a golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus, battling a serpent. The surrounding seals depict the evolution of this emblem over time, including the 1524 Codex Mendoza design from the Aztec Empire. Inscriptions include ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2024 Reverse Proof Libertad 1 oz Gold Coin features Winged Victory. This angelic figure, inspired by the Greek goddess Nike, holds a laurel wreath in her right hand and broken chains in her left. She stands atop the Mexican Independence Victory Column, with the volcanoes Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl in the background. Inscriptions read 1 ONZA, ORO PURO, 2024 LEY .999, and the mint mark.
History
The Mexican Mint produces both proof and reverse proof versions of the Gold Libertad coin. Traditional proofs, available since 2004, are issued in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz weights. The reverse proofs, introduced in 2018, are only available in 1 oz and 1/2 oz weights.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
Provident is only able to ship to addresses in any of the 50 US states. This includes P.O. boxes and APO addresses.
