Obverse
On the obverse of the 2025 American Eagle Gold Coins, you’ll see Lady Liberty, a design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens from 1907. She strides forward confidently, surrounded by sun rays with the U.S. Capitol building in the background. The inscriptions here include LIBERTY and 2025.
Reverse
The reverse of this 2025 Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin displays the American bald eagle in a left-profile portrait, a design first introduced by Jennie Norris in 2020. This detailed view captures the eagles intense gaze and iconic profile. Inscriptions on this side include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1/2 OZ FINE GOLD, and 25 DOLLARS.
History
Since it was introduced in 1986, the Gold Eagle has depicted the proud American bald eagle on the reverse, a national symbol of freedom and unity. Historically valued by Native American tribes, the bald eagle was selected as the emblem of the United States for its strength and majesty.
