Miyamoto Musashi (c. 15841645) remains one of Japans most respected swordsmen. Historical accounts credit him with more than sixty duels, beginning in his early teenage years. Musashi also believed that swordsmanship was connected to discipline, strategy, and personal development, principles he later outlined in his writings.
