A new and fascinating silver coin series begins in 2025, celebrating some of the most notorious crime families in history. The Five Families Series starts with a focus on the Genovese crime family, which dominated organized crime in New York City during the 19th and 20th centuries. Now, 2025 Antique Republic of Chad Genovese Crime Family 2 oz Silver Coins are available for purchase at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
These 2025 Antique Republic of Chad Genovese Crime Family 2 oz Silver Coins feature ultra-high-relief strikes and selective 24-karat gold layering. The gold appears on five emblems on the obverse, and on the reverse, the guns and a cigar are gilded. Each coin comes in a presentation box with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2025 Antique Republic of Chad Genovese Crime Family Silver Coin showcases the Chadian coat of arms. The coin follows a playing-card theme with a rectangular shape, and guns in the corners are accompanied by blood drops rather than the traditional card suits like spades, hearts, clubs, and diamonds. The inscriptions include 2025, REPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD, 10000 F CFA, and 2 OZ .999 AG.
Reverse
On the reverse side, you’ll find a depiction of the Genovese crime family members, framed by an Ace of Spades design. Originally known as the Morello crime family and later as the Luciano crime family, the Genovese family rose to power in the early 1890s within New York City’s Italian-American communities. Led by Giuseppe “Joe the Boss” Morello, the family became one of the most influential Mafia groups in America. The inscription here reads GENOVESE.
History
The family later took its name from Vito Genovese, who assumed control in 1957 after an attempt was made on Frank Costellos life. Costello survived and retired, allowing Genovese to take charge. The Genovese family is known for its sophisticated structure and secrecy, earning the nickname “the Ivy League of organized crime.” Their strategy of using “front bosses” allowed them to keep the true leaders hidden from law enforcement.
