The Australian Kookaburra Series from the Perth Mint has been a staple among coin collectors since 1990. What began as a silver coin release has grown over the years to include gold and platinum versions. Provident Metals now has the 2025 Australian Kookaburra 1/10 oz Gold Coin available for purchase.
Highlights:
Each 2025 Australian Kookaburra 1/10 oz Gold Coin is packaged in a plastic capsule to help keep it in good condition. This release marks the 35th year of the series and includes a fresh design of the well-known bird, as has been the tradition with each annual release.
Obverse
On the obverse side of the 2025 Australian Kookaburra Gold Coin, youll find a portrait of King Charles III. The design was created by Dan Thorne in 2024 and is one of the first official effigies of the king. He is shown in left-profile relief and is not wearing a crown. The inscriptions include CHARLES III, AUSTRALIA, and 15 DOLLARS.
Reverse
The reverse side of 2025 Kookaburra 1/10 oz Gold Coins shows a special design for the 35th anniversary of the Kookaburra Series. In this artwork, a kookaburra is perched on a branch with its wings down and its head turned back. Behind the bird, the sun is rising, adding a peaceful backdrop to the scene. Inscriptions here include 2025 1/10 OZ 9999 GOLD, KOOKABURRA, 35TH ANNIVERSARY, and the P mint mark.
History
Kookaburras are well-known across Australia, particularly the laughing kookaburra species, which is the largest type of kingfisher. These birds were originally forest dwellers, but their hunting habitsswooping down from percheshelped them adjust to the changes brought by European settlers, including more open spaces that made hunting easier.
