Kookaburras are well-known for their call, which sounds like loud, echoing laughter. These native Australian birds are commonly found in the eastern and southeastern parts of the country. Their range stretches from the warm forests of Queensland all the way to the cooler regions of Victoria and parts of South Australia. Provident Metals now offers the 2025 Australian Kookaburra Incused 5 oz Silver Coin.
Highlights:
Each 2025 Australian Kookaburra Incused 5 oz Silver Coin available at Provident Metals is packaged in a black display case with a clear lid from the Perth Mint. It arrives in a special kookaburra-themed shipper and includes a Certificate of Authenticity. The coin features an incuse strike, which means the design is pressed into the coins surface instead of raised above it.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2025 Australian Kookaburra Incused Silver Coin features the new official portrait of King Charles III. This image was created in 2024 by Dan Thorne and marks the first Australian coins to show Charles III. In the design, he is shown in left-profile without a crown. The inscriptions read CHARLES III, AUSTRALIA, and 8 DOLLARS.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2025 Kookaburra Incused 5 oz Silver Coin is a fresh image of a kookaburra sitting in a tree, shown in left-profile. Youll also find a small privy mark that features the original 1990 design used for the first coin in this series, celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Silver Kookaburra. The inscriptions include 2025, 5 OZ 9999 SILVER, KOOKABURRA, 35TH ANNIVERSARY, and the P mint mark.
History
Kookaburras often live in wooded areas near the coast, especially in eucalyptus forests. These spots offer great shelter and plenty of food, including insects, small reptiles, and even the occasional rodent. These birds are also comfortable in backyards and open farmland, showing how well they adjust to different surroundings.
