Obverse
The obverse of the 2025 1/20 oz Gold Lunar Snake Coins showcases King Charles III in left-profile relief. This design, created by Dan Thorne, is the first portrait of Charles III to appear on the Perth Mint’s Lunar Series coins. The image is a simple yet elegant depiction, showing the King without a crown. The inscriptions read CHARLES III, AUSTRALIA, 1/20 OZ 9999 AU, and 5 DOLLARS.
Reverse
On the reverse side, the 2025 Australian Gold Lunar Snake Coin presents a coiled snake nestled among bamboo branches. This intricate design by Sean Rogers portrays the snake in multiple coils, wrapping itself around several shoots of bamboo, symbolizing both the strength and grace of the snake. Inscriptions here read SNAKE, 2025, the P mint mark, and the Chinese emblem for the snake.
History
The Year of the Snake in 2025 also heralds the return of the Year of the Wood Snake, a combination that in Chinese culture represents growth, vitality, and flexibility. It is believed that individuals born in this year will possess insightfulness and adaptability, making them forward-thinkers.
