From 1485 to 1603, the Tudor Dynasty guided England through a time of great change, helping the country shift from medieval customs to the ideas and progress of the Renaissance. This period included the reigns of well-known monarchs such as Henry VII, Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary I, and Elizabeth I. The Royal Mints Tudor Beasts Series, which follows the earlier Queens Beasts Collection, celebrates the royal symbols connected to this historic royal house. Provident Metals now offers the 2025 British Tudor Beasts The Greyhound of Richmond 1/4 oz Gold Coin.
Highlights:
All 2025 British Tudor Beasts The Greyhound of Richmond 1/4 oz Gold Coins come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Youll receive individual coins in plastic flips, or you can purchase larger amounts in tubes of 25 coins or Monster Boxes with 500 coins. Each Monster Box contains 20 tubes.
Obverse
The obverse side of the 2025 British Tudor Beasts The Greyhound of Richmond Gold Coin displays King Charles III in a left-profile portrait. This is the first official coin image of the king and was created by Martin Jennings. It was first issued by The Royal Mint in late 2022 and shows the king without a crown. The inscriptions include CHARLES III, D.G. REX. F.D., and 25 POUNDS.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2025 Tudor Beasts The Greyhound of Richmond 1/4 oz Gold Coin features the Greyhound of Richmond. This heraldic creature is shown behind a shield that carries the Three Lions of England, one of the countrys most historic symbols. This image helped show the Tudor monarchys connection to long-standing English power and was often used in royal imagery and decorative displays. The inscriptions read GREYHOUND OF RICHMOND, 1/4 OZ, FINE GOLD 999.9, and 2025.
History
The Tudor Beasts Series highlights the legendary heraldic animals tied to the Tudor lineage. King Henry VIII had ten impressive statues installed on the Moat Bridge at Hampton Court Palace. These figures represented royal badges and served as a strong symbol of the monarchys power. They were used to communicate the authority and legitimacy of the Tudor rule to anyone who approached the palace.
